Kataragama is a pilgrimage town sacred to Buddhist, Hindu and indigenous Vedda people of Sri Lanka. It houses the ancient Kiri Vehera Buddhist stupa and is a real experience to visit. Visit Kataragama the evening in order to experience the Puja at the temples.
The temple complex in Kataragama is unique because there is a Hindu and a Buddhist temple in the same grounds, along with a Mosque. All of these people pray together in the same complex - meritorious!
